I can't say it enough: I love my job! It's been  a little over two months since I've been working here and it hasn't gotten old, it still challenges me, and I'm still excited when talking to my brides about any and all details of their big day. In most jobs there has always been this honeymoon season where the newness, thrill and drive to do and be my best has been at a all time high... and then fizzled out after about a couple of months. But not here, the vision for the company, the excitement for the industry and the over all love for even the most mundane tasks of my job are still "fun".

Don't get me wrong, I have definately had my stressful days and overwhelming amounts of tasks to finish with not enough daylight to finish it all and yet I still love what I do. On days of the actual event, I still get girly and excited and hopeful for my bride's new future. I grin ear to ear, who am I kidding- I'm full on cheesing- when they're introduced as "Mr and Mrs" for the first time.

I think it's safe to say, I've found my dream job. It makes me feel officially grown up to say it, but it's true, I love what I do. I don't think you could pay me a million dollars to do anything else.  Life has a funny way of working itself out, and I'm glad it's played out this way. I am more than thankful, humble and thrilled to be doing what I do.

Have I told you yet, I love my job??

To have and to hold,
in sickness and in health,
for richer or for poorer,
and 'til death do us part.

Fifty one years ago, Uncle Skeeter and Nancy made those vows to each other. And as those 51 years went by, they lived out those vows. Life wasn't always easy for them, but they always made it work. When times got tough, they buckled down and made it work. So when Skeeter got sick, Nancy did what she had always done, what she vowed to do for him, she made it work. She was by his side no matter how sick he got, for better or for worse. She stretched their paychecks and often went with out to make sure he had the medical attention he needed,  for richer or poorer. She stuck by his side til the bitter end and tomorrow she will bury her best friend and love of her life, til death do us part.

I'm in the business of helping people prepare a day when they will vow before their family and friends to love and honor their best friend, partner in crime and love of their lives.  Our brides will spend months going over every detail, hoping to plan a beatiful day. They'll pick a beautiful dress, choose decor that creates the perfect atmosphere and select the perfect playlist to dance the night away to.

Our brides are excited and hopeful for the future. They are beyond estatic and proud to take the name of their beloved. They'll walk down the aisle and recite their vows with utter sincerity. There's weight, truth and love in every line of them.

Today, I'm reminded of what it looks like to live out the vows made at the altar.

The wedding I worked on Saturday had everything a wedding should have. There was dancing, laughter, great food and tons of romantic hugs and tender kisses between the newlyweds. The venue was amazing, the food delicious and the decor dramatically turned the big ballroom into a magical space. The band kept both the family and friends dancing all night long.

I love what I do. Thru out the week it's a lot of emails, reworking proposals to fit a family's budget and answering the many questions a bride may have regarding her big day. But on the day of the wedding, I work in the back ground making sure the big day runs smoothly, and ultimately I have the honor of watching two families come together to celebrate two people committing themselves to eachother thru the adventure of life.

I had spent years working in the service industry but the day to day lifestyle wasn't something I wanted to continue. It was time for a "big girl" job.  At 26, I have no real college under belt, just a couple of semesters that left me frustrated and unclear with what I wanted to do or better yet, what I really had a passion for.  I had always wanted a job in event planning or with a church planning mission trips, weddings or conferences but I had no clue on where to start.

Knowing I had to get away from waiting tables, I took an admin job at a hospital hoping to get my butt back to college to eventually pursue a nursing career, anything to get me out of my current situation.  But after 8 weeks into the new job, I felt my heart sadden. Nursing would definately be a rewarding and never dull moment career but there would still be something lacking...

Around the same time my heart began to stir with the uncertainty towards nursing, my boyfriend and I went shopping for wood flooring for the house he was remodling. It was in the same business center of the flooring store that I found Bella Events. I saw the sign in the window looking for office help and after a little encourgement from my boyfriend to follow my dreams and 3 agonizing weeks later, I got the job!!

There has been a lot to learn, this industry is bigger than I thought and the competition is fierce. But the reward is high. I love waking up and going into the office to iron out the plans for brides are ready to commit everything they have to the one they love.

And on nights like this past Saturday, I'm reminded that my day will come too.
